UVM Department of Theatre: Patron Website

Thanks to all who came out for our 40th Anniversary celebration of the Royall Tyler Theatre. It was a wonderful day and an event that will be long remembered by all who attended. The coming together of current and past students, faculty and staff of the UVM Theatre department was proof of the lasting impression this program has on all who have experienced it. Our standing in the UVM community, as well as in the greater Burlington community, has proven to have a vitality that is unmatched.

Read what Seven Days and the Burlington Free Press had to say about guest speaker Tony Kushner who entertained and informed an enthusiastic crowd in the Royall Tyler theatre on Saturday afternoon.

Thanks for your support and we look forward to seeing you in the theatre!

Next on the RTT stage is Thornton Wilderís Our Town. This Pulitzer Prize winning classic of the American theatre is a work of humanity and warmth. Our Town is a play about community, the community that exists in a small town and the community that exists in humankind. It transports us to Groverís Corners where we meet people who are shockingly like the ones in our own lives, in their secret wishes and disappointments, in their loves and their losses. The lives of Emily Webb and George Gibbs provide the lens through which the story is told, growing up in the same small town and falling in love in a surprisingly complicated way. The story of Our Town focuses on a village but it encompasses the eternal.

Join director Sarah Carleton and a talented cast as they bring to life ďa play that captures the universal experience of being alive.Ē

Our Town runs November 6-8 and 13-16.
